Annabella Eatherley is a painter, sculptor, ceramicist and writer.

She was born in Cape Town, South Africa, is Mexican by naturalization and English. She spent her childhood and adolescence in Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) and at the age of 18 left for London. There she continued her studies in Art and Design at Chelsea College of Art, London UK where she studied engraving, sculpture, chemistry and art history at Goldsmith College of Art and the Royal Academy of Arts. And she is a reporter and illustrator for an English magazine in London.

She arrived in Mexico in 1971 and dedicated herself to teaching art and ceramics and continued her career as an artist and writer.

Her formative years in southern Africa left her with the traces of aromas, a love of colors, a sense of large spaces and the beauty of people and animals, deep roots planted from birth. The essence of these elements can be seen in her brushstrokes and sculpture.

In both southern Africa and Mexico, colonial invasions have been felt, creating a fracture and fragility. The artist's narrative represents her struggles. She walks through both cultures and bathes her people and traditions in beauty.

Solo exhibitions include Monterrey Nuevo Leon, the School for Foreigners at UNAM and Cultural Centers, among others. Collective exhibitions, multiple since 1974.

International projects such as “Africa in Mexico” (ceramics and muralism with children from Monterrey) and “This is my Country” an exchange of art, muralism and culture with South Africa in Cape Town and Durban.

In 2014, she held an event to celebrate South African liberation day in honor of Nelson Mandela in the town square of Tepoztlán, Morelos. In 2024, she organized a painting auction to celebrate South African liberation day in honor of Nelson Mandela.

She is currently working promoting a sculpture project "Peace Is An Open Book" in honor of Nelson Mandela and education.
